Learn to Conduct Building Energy Assessments and Upgrades
The Association for Energy Affordability (AEA) and the Bronx Community College (BCC) Center for Sustainable Energy offer the following classes in New York City for building professionals, contractors and others seeking to learn how to conduct energy assessments in buildings:
- Building Analyst
- Multifamily Building Analyst
- Building Envelope
Building Analyst classes teach contractors and other professionals how to analyze and reduce energy use in one- to four-family homes. The class teaches the basics of building science and the whole-house approach to understanding energy efficiency, and includes four days in the classroom and two days conducting an energy audit in the field. There are no prerequisites. This class prepares participants for the Building Analyst certification by the Building Performance Institute (BPI), a national accreditation organization. The BPI certification is a requirement to participate in NYSERDA programs.
NYSERDA reimburses 100% of the $1,245 cost for the class as long as the participant attends all six days. The BPI test and certification fees are not included; however, those fees will also be reimbursed by NYSERDA for contractors that join the program.
